GUARDIANS enable Hope for Justice to:

Rescue Victims

Millions are trapped in brutal exploitation around the world – forced to work for little or no pay; made to cook and clean as domestic slaves; pressured to marry a stranger, often while still a child; or pushed into the sex trade. GUARDIANS fund our specialist identification and rescue teams, made up of multilingual outreach workers and investigators drawn from preeminent law enforcement agencies like the FBI, National Crime Agency and Metropolitan Police.

Using a wide variety of methods, they identify victims of trafficking, build bridges of trust with them and remove them from exploitation or intense vulnerability to exploitation to a place of safety. Because of GUARDIANS, our teams work closely with law enforcement agencies to ensure perpetrators are brought to justice.

Restore Lives

Rescue is not an event, it’s a process. GUARDIANS help survivors get the professional support they need to live new lives in freedom. Through outreach and advocacy, or at our own aftercare facilities where highly trained staff provide trauma-informed care, new lives are being built thanks to GUARDIANS.

We believe in the power of family – so, when serving vulnerable children at our Lighthouses, we work to safely transition them back to their families or family-based care. Our Lighthouses are complemented by our Shine Schools, focusing on education and life skills.

We help adult survivors to access housing, benefits, good-quality employment, legal advice and more, while guiding them through the criminal and civil justice processes to ensure they receive restitution. GUARDIANS are changing lives every day.

Reform Society

Ending modern slavery will require change at all levels of society. GUARDIANS are part of the campaign for reform.

They fund our award-winning training teams, who teach thousands of professionals each year – including police, NHS, homeless shelter staff, NGOs, community groups and many others – to spot the signs of modern slavery and to respond effectively.

We also seek policy change through governments and the media, and GUARDIANS are a key part of raising awareness in their own communities. GUARDIANS are helping to create communities and nations that are hostile to trafficking and where it will not be tolerated.

Prevent Exploitation

GUARDIANS fund our outreach teams and Self-Help Groups to empower people to protect their own families from predatory traffickers. Recent years have seen an increase in the impact of trafficking and children being forced into sex work and domestic servitude.

Our specialist teams, thanks to GUARDIANS, can engage with vulnerable children and help keep them safe.

We run economic empowerment initiatives, wellbeing clubs and educational workshops in some of the poorest parts of the world to prevent family separation, which is so often a factor in children being targeted by traffickers.

"I am a GUARDIAN because I believe everyone has the right to dignity and freedom."
