Hope for Justice wins ‘Outstanding Contribution’ award

Hope for Justice won the the award for ‘Outstanding Contribution to the Fight against Modern Slavery’ at the UK Anti-Slavery Day Awards 2017, held at Speaker’s House within the Palace of Westminster last night (Wednesday, October 18th).

The ceremony was attended by the Speaker of the House of Commons as well as the Home Secretary, Amber Rudd MP, and the Minister responsible for tackling modern slavery, Sarah Newton MP.

Hope for Justice’s Director of Legal Policy, Phillipa Roberts, was at the ceremony and collected the award on behalf of the whole charity.

The annual Awards ceremony, run by the Human Trafficking Foundation and supported by the Marsh Christian Trust, celebrates the organisations that have made outstanding contributions to the ongoing fight against modern slavery, and the media organisations whose articles, broadcasts and commentary have done the most to highlight, expose and force action on the issue.

Hope for Justice’s Ben Cooley said: “As the CEO of Hope for Justice, I’m so thrilled that we have been acknowledged – that our staff and supporters have been acknowledged – in such a way.

“It’s incredibly humbling to receive such a prestigious award. We are proud to be part of the movement which is doing all it can to eradicate modern-day slavery and human trafficking, and I want to pay enormous tribute to everyone who stands with us as part of this movement.”
